Have brain surgery and be home that day in time for dinner.Learn More about Gamma KnifeIt's hard to believe you could go in for brain surgery and come home the very same day. After frame placement, imaging and treatment planning, a patient can be in the Gamma Knife from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. After the frame comes off, patients are monitored for 1 hour, then go home unless they have additional treatments elsewhere in the Neuroscience Center. Some patients experience a mild headache or minor swelling, but most report no problems and can return to normal activities within 1-2 days.
